Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world.
This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Customer Service Unit, Delivery and Return Section, Supply Chain Service. This position reports directly to the Chief, Customer Service Unit, Delivery and Return Section, Supply Chain Service.
Within delegated authority, the Senior Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the following duties
•Assists the Logistics Officers in coordinating with missions with respect to client support; surveys, evaluates requirements, and recommends additions and deletions to Strategic Deployment Stocks of equipment and commodities.
•Provides service management support to more senior Supply Officers.
•Verifies funding, bidding, evaluation and certifies invoices with respect to requisitions. Acts as the primary focal point for the production of field mission service request.
• Leads technical aspects of SCS service management, ensures continuous improvement of services, implements best practices, adopts and adapts processes to establish and maintain a scalable and innovative Service Management Function in UNGSC Supply Chain Service.
• Provides Service Management advice and supports technical units and clients in the application of practices and reporting standards; undertake research with respect Client Survey Report.
• Provides technical assistance with respect to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (Siebel iNeed) workflows.
• Maintains liaison with relevant departments and field missions with respect to the status of Service requests, delivery, financial and insurance matters.
• Manages the operations of a small detachment/unit and supervises assigned staff.
• Investigates and coordinates the solutions of problems.
• Assists in identifying common issues and best practices, making recommendations and developing plan to achieve objectives and increase efficiency.
• Initiates requests and performs technical evaluations.
• Designs and develops relevant databases and logistics programmes.
• Formulates and monitors service allocations.
• Performs other duties as required.

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Certificate in Logistics, Customer Service Management or a similar field, is desirable.
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in logistics services, service/performance management or a related field is required.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience with service management or client relationship management with a complex international organization is desirable.
Experience in designing request workflows in CRM (Siebel iNeed) is desirable.
Experience in creating performance measurement reports and client satisfaction surveys is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Service category in the United Nations Secretariat. Having passed the Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) in English at Headquarters, ECA, ESCWA, UNOG, UNOV, ICTR, or ICTY may be recognized in place of the GGST, pending confirmation of validity.
